Mono-material packaging is one of our fastest growing product categories at ICONS|ICS. We offer a wide range of mono-material jars, bottles, tubes, pan sticks, pencils, compacts, palettes, and rollerballs made of either PP, PET or PE. We focus specifically on these materials because of their ability to be globally recycled. Mono\u2013material packaging\u00a0can\u00a0bring\u00a0a host of benefits\u00a0in addition\u00a0to\u00a0being easy\u00a0to recycle. For example,\u00a0the design of\u00a0our 1-piece mono\u2013material PE\u00a0flip top\u00a0tubes\u00a0reduces injection\u00a0cycle time as well as the\u00a0assembly process,\u00a0which\u00a0in turn\u00a0cuts\u00a0energy\u00a0consumption.\u00a0It is also\u00a0made with less plastic compared to traditional tubes\u00a0and is\u00a0a more\u00a0cost-effective\u00a0option.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Traditional packaging was\u00a0often\u00a0designed with\u00a0multi-materials\u00a0to meet performance or formulation compatibility requirements\u00a0since the combination of different properties in different materials can provide optimal results.\u00a0At ICONS|ICS,\u00a0our\u00a0mono material packaging options\u00a0are designed\u00a0not only\u00a0to\u00a0meet aesthetic and sustainability targets\u00a0but also\u00a0to achieve\u00a0function and performance requirements.\u00a0Utilizing the same resin for all injected parts also helps to achieve color consistency over the entire component.\u00a0<\/p>\n
We\u00a0have seen a huge shift in plastic material and recyclability awareness\u00a0in the last few years.\u00a0Packaging recyclability is now a must,\u00a0and this can be a challenge when\u00a0consumers\u00a0have\u00a0limited\u00a0access to\u00a0recycling facilities\u00a0or\u00a0less advanced recycling facilities. Mono\u2013material packaging\u00a0in PP, PET and PE\u00a0are ideal\u00a0solutions\u00a0as\u00a0they\u00a0can be easily\u00a0recycled.\u00a0 Not only are we creating custom mono-material items, but at ICONS|ICS we are also transforming existing stock tools into\u00a0mono-material\u00a0options.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
One of the most popular packaging categories at ICONS|ICS is our range of mono-material propel\/repel components.\u00a0 The main types being pan sticks, lipsticks, and lip balms. We worked with several global and indie skincare and cosmetic brands to develop PP mono-material pan sticks in a variety of sizes as well as PP and PET mono-material lipsticks and lip balms.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Recyclability has long remained a challenge for duo end pencils with built-in applicators since these traditionally contain multiple materials.
